<head03> Third Heading

<head03> is a new formatting element in EAD which is used, along with <head01> and <head02> within <listhead> to designate column heads in a multi-column list. This element designates the second column heading. Do not confuse with <head> which designates a heading for an entire list or section of text or with <thead>, which is used for column heads in a table.

The EAD tag library recommends that the <head03> element not be used within a definition list. Definition lists may only contain two levels of elements, while <chronlist>s may contain three. Using a third element throws off table display if there aren’t enough elements.
